fall means a trip to stone barns

One of our favorite family day trips is to
Stone Barns, a bucolic farm just a short drive from New York City. The kids sign up for egg collecting (we made
this zucchini frittata with our beautiful pale blue eggs), meet the huge and magnificent pigs, or take part in their
Farmers in Training classes.

Coming up on October 1
st is their annual
Harvest Fest featuring
Dan Zanes, with yummy food from
Blue Hill,
Balthazar Bakery,
Mast Brothers Chocolate, and what I suspect will be in high demand,
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. We may even stay for a marvelous meal at
Blue Hill at Stone Barns, where everything on the plate is raised or grown in the Hudson Valley, either in their own fields or from neighboring farms. Love being able to drop in on this beautiful rural lifestyle.
