sadie's seventh birthday bash, the glitter, jewels, feathers, and barbie!
My girl Sadie just turned seven years old, and it was quite a bash, consisting of 18 very excited girls, feather station, jewelry-making station from jewelry designer Merrill Kassan, glitter tattoos, and cupcake making. Katy Perry (her more wholesome songs) was our event soundtrack. Two hours of screaming girls meant that Sadie was having the time of her life, while mom had a raging headache, but there's nothing better than to see your kids that happy! Sadie wanted a Barbie cake, so I went to Chelsea Market to get the cake, and it was $350! Crazy, right? So I found a cake pan that comes with Barbie on Amazon and did it myself. Not quite the same, but I am proud of how it turned out, and, most importantly, the girls loved it. I was amazed at all the beautifully wrapped gifts from my creative friends, the moms of Sadie's friends. The exquisite green gift below was from Michelle Jassem who was the former contributing style editor at O Magazine. After all that preparation, and a successful party complete, that night I went to wrap Sadie's present and found I only had Christmas wrapping! But she was all smiles, just like she is in the photo below of her and me. We had fun with this invite—designed by Paige in our office—which I think captured the event to come. Mission accomplished!
